March 2014
March, wow busy Month, firstly congratulations and good luck to you Mills, she is only representing England (Ladies) at La Manga. There will be a footballer who makes the big time in the family!! Its in the Gene’s. I think she has my left foot !!
13th March had a great day at the Stroke Volunteers Workshop in Salford, yes we can also now announce the 10th May will be a little football match on at Edgeley Park, Stockport. Tickets are available at £5 adults and £3 Juniors, proceeds will go to MND (Motor Nuerones Disease) association and Stroke association. Squad to be confirmed but there are some interesting names being branded about so far. Ian Bishop, Tony Dinning, Tony Barras, Lee Todd, Phil Babb, hopefully a gent by the name of Jan Molby, also hopefully Paul the ginger prince Scholes amongst others. There will be 2 matches, a Ladies game Wallasey Athletic V FC United Ladies and then Wallasey Athletic Gents V WACA Stars (Wallasey Athletic Charity Aid). So please tell all and bring the family.
Back to the workshop, I had the privilege to meet some truly great people, some of them other Stroke Survivors from our region, Lynn, Nigel, Natalie, Paul, Darrell, Sue, Harry as ever, Pieter Egriega was amazing (check out his Drabble Diary, its well worth the admission fee) and other volunteers who’ve not had a Stroke but want to raise awareness out there.
All good Stuff, speaking of good stuff, what about any old iron, not that he’s Old my good pal Bish from Florida !!! Man City, West Ham Legend amongst other clubs, and even appeared in a Stockport County Programme back in the day with me!!
Also I got a great message from former Australia Rugby World Cup Captain Michael Lynagh.
Look Northwest has also wished me well!
